Sydney Woman makes over $4000 a year by lending items on Gecko!

Last year, Brigid had a lot of unused items that were just gathering dust in her home and storage space. Brigid had items from furniture, pans and cutlery, clothes, and even heaters that were not used very often. She didn’t really like that as she dislikes items being underutilised and would prefer it to be taken out frequently and used.

So she found out about Gecko, an amazing and easy to use online renting platform, different from all the other renting sites, and decided to list all those items she wasn’t using onto Gecko. She listed up to 45 items ranging from tables, chairs, to heaters, cooking items and other miscellaneous things.

Not long after her listings, people began borrowing her items more and more where she would lend out items at least once a week or a fortnight.

Brigid says her popular items vary each month and by season, where during the Winter, heaters were the most popular, while during the Summer, her chairs and tables were borrowed quite often because of the wedding season.

However, the current challenge Brigid does face is the decreased sales because of COVID-19, but she doesn’t see that as too big of an issue as she still gets borrowers and believes sales will increase soon once again.

Brigid trusts Gecko and the borrowers with her items because of the strong security process in place together with the bond and also charging borrowers if her items get damaged.
